Shortly after graduating from college, I joined the banking world as a 9-5 banker. A good friend of mine had been originating mortgages for sometime and approached me with an opportunity to change my career path. With little hesitation, I accepted the opportunity and after a few short weeks of training, I was released to the wild. Not long after my career change, the financial crash of 2008 occurred, but my love for mortgage banking prevailed and I stayed the course. As the years went by, I continued to outperform others and strived to be the best. As I lookback on my career and life choices, joining mortgage banking was the best decision I have ever made, next to marrying my wife.
As a broker, we have to work extremely hard to bring customers to the table. During this time of uncertainty the pandemic has brought, it makes it even tougher to get customers to the table. With virtually no discernable mortgage experience, but a financial background and a college degree, I was offered a chance to learn anew craft within an industry I knew nothing about.
